\nRefuser la libert\u00e9 \u00e0 des \u00eatres humains, c\u2019est de la torture; refuser qu\u2019ils aient une id\u00e9e du moment o\u00f9 cette torture cessera ajoute une toute nouvelle dimension barbare \u00e0 la cruaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n

L\u2019arrogance de l\u2019Am\u00e9ricain fait qu\u2019il s\u2019autorise \u00e0 r\u00e9primander les autres pays pour les violations des droits humains: la Russie, la Chine, la Cor\u00e9e du Nord et l\u2019Iran sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans les m\u00e9dias US comme des Etats maudits, accus\u00e9s de ne pas respecter les normes internationales. Dans le pass\u00e9, les Am\u00e9ricains aimaient tout particuli\u00e8rement montrer du doigt l\u2019Union Sovi\u00e9tique et son syst\u00e8me de goulags pour les mettre en parall\u00e8le avec leurs pr\u00e9tendues libert\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Et ces g\u00e9ants arrogants, gardiens de la vertu autoproclam\u00e9s se montrent aujourd\u2019hui tels qu\u2019ils sont: des hypocrites, des charlatans et des pervers crapuleux.<\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce aux souffrances des prisonniers de Guantanamo, le monde constate aujourd\u2019hui quelques v\u00e9rit\u00e9s scandaleuses sur la v\u00e9ritable nature du gouvernement US et de ses anciennes pr\u00e9tentions de grandeur. Sans Guantanamo, le monde aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 mystifi\u00e9 un peu plus longtemps par l\u2019art am\u00e9ricain de la mystification. Mais c\u2019est termin\u00e9 maintenant.<\/p>\n

Le genre de dictature US a tout ce qu\u2019avait l\u2019ancien syst\u00e8me sovi\u00e9tique, mais avec une caract\u00e9ristique insidieuse: le fantasme de l\u2019exceptionnalisme am\u00e9ricain.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9fl\u00e9chissez-y. Issus de r\u00e9gions du monde entier, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9s \u00e0 Guantanamo par leurs ravisseurs en b\u00eates sauvages, tortur\u00e9s physiquement et mentalement, humili\u00e9s et d\u00e9shonor\u00e9s. La plupart d\u2019entre eux sont des musulmans, originaires d\u2019Afrique, du Moyen Orient et d\u2019Asie o\u00f9 les Etats-Unis m\u00e8nent depuis 2001 leur mascarade permanente de \u00ab\u00a0guerre contre le terrorisme\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

La cruaut\u00e9 vindicative du pays qui les a kidnapp\u00e9s est telle que la seule libert\u00e9 de ces hommes \u2013 lire le coran dans la solitude de leurs cellules \u2013 leur a \u00e9t\u00e9 refus\u00e9e. Pire encore, leur foi a \u00e9t\u00e9 pi\u00e9tin\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Leurs ge\u00f4liers ont non seulement emprisonn\u00e9 leurs corps, mais ces bourreaux veulent \u00e9galement traquer les pens\u00e9es les plus intimes de leurs victimes.<\/p>\n

Vouloir assassiner l\u2019\u00e2me humaine, c\u2019est pousser la barbarie des hommes jusqu\u2019\u00e0 des degr\u00e9s scientifiques de perversit\u00e9.
\n90% des otages \u2013 terme plus appropri\u00e9 que \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9tenus\u00a0\u00bb \u2013 de Guantanamo n\u2019ont jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 accus\u00e9s de quoi que ce soit.<\/p>\n

Ils sont d\u00e9tenus parce qu\u2019ils sont simplement suspect\u00e9s par un gouvernement US qui a perdu toute cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 et toute moralit\u00e9 aux yeux du monde entier.<\/p>\n

Cela fait maintenant 50 jours que 26 des d\u00e9tenus de Guantanamo ont entam\u00e9 une gr\u00e8ve de la faim. C\u2019est la seule libert\u00e9 qu\u2019il reste \u00e0 ces hommes. Refuser le moyen de subsistance le plus fondamental. Rester si longtemps sans nourriture conduit le corps humain \u00e0 une issue fatale. Les muscles ont d\u2019ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 absorb\u00e9s par le m\u00e9tabolisme du corps pour survivre face \u00e0 la privation de nourriture; \u00e0 ce stade, le dernier organe vital du cerveau commence \u00e0 \u00eatre attaqu\u00e9 aussi.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Ces hommes se sont peut-\u00eatre dit que, probablement, le seul moyen de rentrer chez eux \u2013 innocent\u00e9s ou pas \u2013 c\u2019est entre quatre planches<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l\u2019avocat de la d\u00e9fense d\u00e9sign\u00e9 par l\u2019arm\u00e9e US, le lieutenant colonel Barry Wingard, dans une interview r\u00e9cente r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par Russia Today. Wingard, qui n\u2019a droit qu\u2019\u00e0 un nombre de visites limit\u00e9 pour rencontrer les prisonniers, dit qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 scandalis\u00e9 par les conditions d\u2019\u00a0\u00bbanimaux en cage\u00a0\u00bb que subissaient ces hommes la derni\u00e8re fois qu\u2019il les a vus, il y a trois semaines. \u00ab\u00a0Ils n\u2019auront jamais droit \u00e0 un proc\u00e8s avec les preuves qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retenues contre eux<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, ajoute-t-il.<\/p>\n

Donc, si on r\u00e9capitule. Des centaines d\u2019hommes \u2013 selon toute probabilit\u00e9 innocents des crimes dont on les accuse \u2013 ont effectu\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 11 ans de prison sans inculpation, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tortur\u00e9s, se sont vu refuser une aide juridique l\u00e9gitime \u2013 tous ces crimes \u00e9tant commis par le gouvernement des Etats-Unis qui proclame \u00eatre le garant de la d\u00e9mocratie, des droits humains et des lois internationales. C\u2019est ce gouvernement m\u00eame qui a organis\u00e9 l\u2019invasion et l\u2019occupation ill\u00e9gales de l\u2019Afghanistan et de l\u2019Irak, assassinant des millions d\u2019innocents, au nom de la d\u00e9mocratie et du droit international.<\/p>\n

Mais ne vous y trompez pas. Guantanamo n\u2019est pas une immonde incongruit\u00e9 des nobles revendications des Etats-Unis. C\u2019est, en fait, un microcosme qui prouve que le gouvernement est devenu v\u00e9ritablement barbare.<\/p>\n

Il y a cinq ans, lorsque Barack Obama \u00e9tait candidat \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sidence des Etats-Unis, la fermeture de Guantanamo \u00e9tait une de ses grandes promesses. Et c\u2019est tout \u00e0 l\u2019honneur de la population US de l\u2019avoir \u00e9lu pour qu\u2019il d\u00e9mant\u00e8le cette abominable atteinte aux droits humains et au droit international, et toute la torture qui en d\u00e9coule, que repr\u00e9sentaient ces violations du temps de Bush et des n\u00e9ocons.
\nUn fois r\u00e9\u00e9lu, Obama a r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9 que Guantanamo n\u2019\u00e9tait pas pr\u00e8s de dispara\u00eetre.<\/p>\n

Si ce n\u2019est pas une trahison cynique et du m\u00e9pris pour les aspirations d\u00e9mocratiques du peuple, \u00e7a!<\/p>\n

Obama a surpass\u00e9 Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Co. La guerre permanente imp\u00e9rialiste contre le monde entier est actuellement intensifi\u00e9e et \u00e9tendue pour atteindre la Syrie, l\u2019Iran, la Chine et la Russie, et tout autre qui ose se mettre en travers de l\u2019h\u00e9g\u00e9monie des Etats-Unis.
\nLe fait qu\u2019Obama se soit octroy\u00e9 des pouvoirs secrets pour ex\u00e9cuter n\u2019importe qui, n\u2019importe quand, n\u2019importe o\u00f9 dans le monde, d\u00e9passe les fantasmes des n\u00e9ocons de Bush.<\/p>\n

Cette abomination qu\u2019est Guantanamo est donc un important moment de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 qui montre jusqu\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019Am\u00e9rique est all\u00e9e pour s\u2019engager sur la voie du fascisme absolu.<\/p>\n

Paradoxalement, ce sont des hommes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 priv\u00e9s de tout, au point m\u00eame d\u2019en mourir, qui mettent en lumi\u00e8re cette v\u00e9rit\u00e9 toute crue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guantanamo Exposes Reality of US Fascism<\/h3>\n

They are essentially dead men who just happen to breathe. That is the grim assessment of the legal representative for the inmates in the American concentration camp, otherwise known as Guantanamo Bay.<\/p>\n

More than 11 years after this penal colony was opened on the American-occupied territory of Cuba, there remains some 166 prisoners who live in a nightmarish world of indefinite detention.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of others have been ground through the machine, spewed out like human waste. Denial of human freedom is torture; denial of any sense of when that torture ends adds a whole new barbarous dimension of cruelty.<\/p>\n

American vanity likes to indulge in berating other countries for human rights violations: Russia, China, North Korea and Iran are paraded in the American media as pariah states, accused of failing international legal standards. In the past, the Soviet Union and its system of gulags was a particular favourite feature for Americans to contrast their supposed freedoms. How the \u2018high and mighty\u2019 self-proclaimed moral titans now stand exposed as hypocrites, charlatans and low-life perverts.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the suffering of prisoners at Guantanamo, the world is seeing some shocking home truths about the real nature of American government and its formerly grandiose pretensions. Without Guantanamo, the world may have been duped a little longer by the American art of deception. But not anymore. The American style of dictatorship has everything that the old Soviet system had, but with an added insidious trait \u2013 the American delusion of exceptionalism.<\/p>\n

Think about it. In Guantanamo, they have been rendered from all over the world by their captors like so much wild animals, physically and mentally tortured, humiliated and defiled. Most of them are Muslim, coming from Africa, the Middle East and Asia, where the US has been waging its permanent charade \u2018War on Terror\u2019 since 2001.<\/p>\n

Such is the cruel vindictiveness of their captor country that these men\u2019s only freedom \u2013 to read their holy Korans in the solitude of their cells \u2013 has been denied to them. More. Their sacred beliefs have been stamped on. Not only have their captors incarcerated their bodies; their tormentors want to hunt down their victims\u2019 inner-most thoughts. This is taking human barbarity to scientific levels of depravity where the human spirit is sought out to be murdered.<\/p>\n

Ninety percent of the Guantanamo hostages \u2013 a more appropriate description than \u2018inmate\u2019 \u2013 have never been charged with any offence. They are being held merely on the basis of suspicion by an American government that has lost all credibility and moral bearing in the eyes of the world.<\/p>\n

For nearly 50 days now, 26 of the men at Guantanamo have been on a hunger strike. It is the only freedom left to these men. To refuse the most basic means of subsistence. That length of time without food is pushing the human body into a fatal condition. The muscles have been eaten away now by the body\u2019s own metabolism to survive against deprivation; at this stage, the last vital organ of the brain becomes internally digested.<\/p>\n

\u2018These men have figured out that probably the only way for them to go home \u2013 cleared or not \u2013 is in a wooden box,\u2019 said their American-military appointed defence lawyer, Lt Col Barry Wingard, in a recent interview with Russia Today<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Wingard, who has been granted only limited access to consult with the prisoners, said that he was shocked by the \u2018animal cage\u2019 conditions of the men when he last saw them three weeks ago. \u2018They will never get a trial based upon the evidence that is against them,\u2019 adds Wingard.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s recap. Hundreds of men \u2013 in all probability innocent of suspected wrongdoing \u2013 are held for up to 11 years without charge, tortured and denied proper legal support \u2013 all perpetrated by the government of the US that proclaims to be the world\u2019s standard bearer of democratic and human rights and international law. This is the same government that has overseen the invasion and illegal occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, murdering millions of innocents, in the name of establishing democracy and international law.<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t confuse. Guantanamo is not a vile contradiction of America\u2019s lofty claims. It is, in fact, a microcosm of the reality of how truly barbaric the American government has become.<\/p>\n

Five years ago, when Barack Obama was running for the US presidency, the closure of Guantanamo was a central promise. To the credit of the American people, they voted him into the White House in order to tear down this abomination of human rights and international law and all the associated torture that it represented under Bush and the neocons.<\/p>\n

Into his second administration, Obama has reiterated that Guantanamo is here to stay. How is that for a brazen betrayal and snub to democratic demand of the people? Appropriately, Obama has outdone Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Co. The imperialist permanent war on the world is being stepped and expanded to target Syria, Iran, China and Russia and whomever else dares to stand in the way of American hegemony. Obama\u2019s wielding of secretive executive powers to execute any one, any time, any place in the world exceeds the fantasies of the Bush neocons.<\/p>\n

The abomination that is Guantanamo is therefore an important moment of truth as to how far America has gone down the road to all-out fascism.<\/p>\n

Ironically, it is men who have been deprived of everything even to the point of death who are exposing this powerful truth.<\/p>\n
